I think you should read Dovey Coe by Frances O’Roark Dowell because Dovey is a unique character. She is tough, smart, and resourceful. She is accused of murder in this book and she’s only 12! One of the reasons this book is so cool is that the author writes exactly like the characters speak. It makes it much more realistic.
Star Girl
You just have to read Star Girl by Jerry Spinelli because it is a unique love story told from the perspective of the guy. The lead character can’t help falling in love with the new girl at school even though she is a bit weird and his friends –and most of the school – have a rough relationship with her. You will love Star Girl, both the book and the character!
