Mentoring Program Announced at 2004 National Conference
The Near West Cook Chapter of Women in Management announced Friday at the 2004 National Conference held at the Carleton of Oak Park its latest Young Women's Project.
WIM member, Heather Sattler was named as the new Director of the Near West Cook Chapter of Women in Management's newest exciting program: WIM's Young Women's Project. "As Executive Director of This Is ME, Heather is the perfect person to help us launch this exciting new program," said Sue Wiggins Rose, Vice President of Scholarship and Awards.
"This Is ME provides enrichment and empowerment programs for adolescent and teen girls in the Chicago area. The organization's mission mirrors perfectly our own mission to promote education, development, encouragement, and mentoring among women."
As Director of WIM's Young Women's Project, Sattler will facilitate mentoring relationships between Women and Management Members and This Is ME's participants and young volunteers, extending WIM's influence to a new population of females. The Young Women's Project will additionally look for opportunities to bring enrichment and empowerment programming to young women in need throughout our service area in Oak Park.
The American Association of University Women recently named Sattler one of five "Women in Charge" across the nation. She received this honor in recognition of her efforts to found and grow This Is ME to help girls excel. Heather was also the recipient of a full scholarship for the Leadership Illinois Class of 2004. Leadership Illinois brings together a diverse group of accomplished women from all sectors of society to educate, energize, and enlighten so that each can be a catalyst for positive change.
